Mr. Sullivan graduated from Georgetown University in 1985 with a double major in Finance/International Management and went to work at Merrill Lynch and Company for the next two years. He went to law school at Indiana University starting in 1987. While in law school he worked at the Inmate Legal Assistant Clinic where he met with inmates at the United States Penitentiary at Terre Haute to help them with cases. He also worked in Student Legal Services to help low income clients with issues such as landlord/tenant law. Also during law school, he clerked with two firms in Washington D.C. After graduation in 1990, Mr. Sullivan was hired as a Deputy Prosecutor in Indiana until 1992 when he became a Chief Deputy Prosecutor. From 1995-1999 he was Chief Counsel in charge of the Criminal Division of a prosecutor's office. 
In 1999 he moved to Colorado and began working for a firm practicing federal criminal law and federal securities law. He became a member of the Criminal Justice Act Panel in federal court and Alternate Defense Counsel in state court. In 2001, Mr. Sullivan started his own firm doing state and federal criminal defense. He has tried over 120 jury trials and handled thousands of cases. He is a member of the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and the Colorado Catholic Lawyers Guild. He has practiced in front of the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and in United States District Court for the Districts of Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, California and Nebraska. His state work includes most counties on the Front Range as well as the Western Slope.
